A bit about us.

At WOW we love God, we love creation, and we love people….oh, and yoga too! We thought, what better way to unite these ‘first loves’ than with yoga and wellness retreats to some of our favorite destinations on the planet!

Based in Costa Rica, we partner with yoga instructors and wellness practitioners from across the globe to offer unique and immersive retreat experiences for our guests. We are passionate as hosts and look forward to bringing people together in community, all while holding space to listen to each other, share with one another, and encourage one another to grow in our pursuit of God.

We can’t wait to see you in Costa Rica!

After years of working in travel and tourism we’ve put our knowledge and knack for hospitality into practice as we invite, welcome, and serve guests on seamlessly coordinated and orchestrated retreats.

Along with rejuvenating yoga and inspiring places, we share our struggles, victories and defeats encouraging and empowering individuals to connect, learn, and grow while on retreat.

What we believe.

about retreat

We often think of retreat as a place we go to do things, maybe a business retreat where we are expected to attend numerous sessions on team-building or strategy, often times working harder than we would had we stayed at the office! Or maybe it’s a church retreat for youth, couples, or leadership with carefully orchestrated programming that fills every minute of the day. While these types of retreat are great for building teams and community, they don’t do much for your personal time with God, or your rest for that matter.

Our approach to retreat is a little different. It’s more of a ‘strategic withdrawal’ as author and retreat guru Ruth Haley Barton puts it, more closely aligned with the definition associated with military tactic. It’s an invitation to retreat from the front lines of life, to rest, seek healing, and talk with our Commander about the next steps whether it be a new strategy or approach to claiming victory. It’s by no means a defeat as some might think, but rather an opportunity to learn to live, so we might fight to see the battle won.

We believe there’s no better way to hear the voice of God speaking than to get away from the noise, confusion, and chaos of our daily lives, and step back into, or retreat to His presence. This requires us to pause, surrender, be still and embrace the quiet spaces while we wait on Him. As you can imagine this can be challenging as it goes against our cultural norms, recipes and requirements for so called proven success. However if you trust us, or rather trust Him, we believe you’ll find this ‘do-less’ (or ‘do-nothing’) approach truly transformational.

about yoga

Now whether it’s your first time hearing about it or you’re well familiar, we practice Christ-centered yoga. While it may sound crazy to some, we explain it like this: everything you do should have intention, mindfulness, and offer opportunity for growth. When a pursuit of God and His will are your desire, dominating your thoughts, choices and decisions, and ultimately determine your direction and destination, then He is at the center and runs the show.

See yoga isn’t about us, it’s about Him. Our breath is the most basic offering of praise He gives us, our movement along with the rest of creation honors Him, and our gaze whether it be with our eyes, our minds, or our hearts is always on him. It’s our way of worshiping, honoring, and giving glory to God. Whatever we get in return in the form of balance, improved health, or peace of mind is simply a blessing, not an expected outcome.

Now, we’re not here to tell people how they should practice yoga, just like we wouldn’t tell them how to spend their time or money. All of these things can either be used for God’s purposes or to serve our own motives and intentions. What we are here to do is share and teach in the ways that we know align with His Word, exalt Him, and seek His kingdom before anything else. Read more

about healing

Let’s face it, we live in a broken world where people are hurting, and along with yoga there’s a lot of funky stuff floating around out there with respect to who, where, and how to find healing and achieve wellness. Fortunately we serve the Great Physician, the Father who sees and provides, the Son who one need only touch his cloak and be healed, and the Spirit of living water that flows through and from believers.

We believe that God is a redeemer who can and does use all things created for His plan and His purpose. We also believe that God uses his people as vessels to achieve great things. Does he needs us? No. Can he use us? Yes. We work with a network of teachers and practitioners, especially through our wellness retreats that have answered the call to partner with God in healing through prayer, counseling, laying on of hands, breath, movement, and meditation.

We couldn’t be any more clear or serious about this: we do not believe in, attempt to tap into, or condone any of the hocus pocus New Age stuff that’s out there. You won’t hear us chanting, dancing, or praying to anyone but the Sovereign God, Jehovah, who does not share his throne with buddha, mother nature or anyone else. Any and all healing experienced on our retreats is a gift, a result of God’s sovereign power, grace and mercy.
